Usage chairman, chairwoman. Chairman may quite properly be used for either a man or a woman in charge of a meeting or committee. The forms of address are: »

Mr. Chairman, Madame Chairman.

chairlady, chairperson, chairwoman. Chairlady is more formal, and less frequent, than chairwoman; as forms of address both are preceded by Madame. Chairperson was coined to eliminate the reference to the subject's sex, but it is not widely used and is almost never used as a form of address.
